District Deputy R.W. David R. Holland
Brethren,
Can you believe August is near
gone and the summer that just started is almost past?
I hope you have had an enjoyable summer and
have been able to enjoy time with your family and friends.
If you did that, then hopefully you have
recharged your batteries and are ready to step out for the start of the
2010 fall Masonic season. This is our busiest time of the year,
Installations, Official Visits, Grand Lodge and District Quarterlies,
Lodge of Instruction, Blood Drives, CHIP events, Fall Square & Compasses
Day,
Holiday Ball, The Feast of St John,
announcement of a new Grand Master, Deputy
Grand Master, Senior and Junior Grand Wardens and fifteen new District
Deputy Grand Masters.
The most important work ahead of us is the
continuation of our degree work for those who are continuing on with
their Masonic journey and those who will soon start their journey.
It is your chance for your Lodge to bring
forth those good men and make them an active part of your Lodge.
To those of you who have recently become
Master Masons and those who will soon join their brothers as a Master
Mason, become involved in your Lodge.
There are many opportunities to get in line
as an officer, serve on committees or volunteer with Blood Drives, CHIP
events or other activities of your Lodge or the District.
Ask the Master or Secretary of your Lodge
about the Master Mason Rookie of the year Award and this will definitely
involve you in many interesting facets of our Fraternity.
This Award challenges new Brothers to meet a
series of objectives during the first twelve months of their raising.
This will get them involved in the Lodge and
expose them to the many different aspects of our Fraternity.
Successfully completing the requirements for
the Award will earn the Brother a Certificate of Accomodation signed by
the Grand Master with the Grand Lodge seal and a specially designed
Master Mason Rookie Award pin.
If officers of the Lodges would encourage
and assist new Brothers with this it would be great.
I know many of you have been
meeting and your plans are already on the Trestle Board.
The focus from here on out should be see
that we are ever so diligent in seeing our plans carried out to the best
of our ability. I have asked this of you in the past and I do so again,
take a long and reflective look back at what it was that caused you to
seek admission at the door.
What is it you were seeking and did you find
it?
Are you waiting to be asked to become more involved
in your lodge?
Take the initiative and ask what it is you
can do to become more involved.
If your interest is to get in line, let the
Master and Wardens know.
Not everyone has the desire to be an officer
but there are so many other ways in which you can serve.
I look forward to seeing you
in your lodge,
at the Lodge of Instruction or traveling
with us on the Suite.
Fraternally,
Dave
