In 1733, the Grand Lodge of England
named Henry Price, a Boston tailor, as
the first Provincial Grand Master in the
Americas. This precedence gives the
Grand Lodge of Massachusetts the
distinction of being the third oldest
Grand Lodge in the world and the oldest
in the Western Hemisphere. And in 2008,
we will celebrate our 275th Anniversary.
The 275th Anniversary Committee, chaired
by R.W. Graham A. Long, is making plans
to celebrate this important milestone.
On the weekend of May 2-5, 2008, Masons
from across the country and around the
world will be welcomed to Boston to
commemorate the anniversary. Plans are
underway for an elegant ball, a worship
service at Boston’s historic
Trinity church, and performances of the
Scottish Rite play “Something's Brewing”
that was written for our 250th
Anniversary.
